Lufthansa is an instantly recognized airline, not just in Europe but around the world. With its expansive route network and diverse fleet, along with the strength of the entire Lufthansa Group, the German flag carrier is well positioned as a leading European airline. In 2026, the airline will celebrate its 100th anniversary.

In this blog post I take a look back at the airline's history and development. From its birth in 1926 to the introduction of jet aircraft into its fleet as well as the challenges it faced due to Covid-19, the airline has clearly impacted the entire aviation industry. The fact that the airline is still around 100 years later is amazing.

In this blog post I take a look at the Air Canada fleet in 2026, as well as the fleet of Air Canada Express and Air Canada Rouge. I also take a look at the dedicated freighter aircraft which Air Canada Cargo utilizes and the future aircraft which the airline plans to take delivery of in the future.

I will also look at the many struggles the airline faced after Covid-19, particularly in its final years as well as what the collapse of Spirit Airlines means for the aviation industry.

On 22 March 2026, a Jazz Aviation CRJ-900, operating as Air Canada Express flight 8646, collided with an airport firefighting vehicle on the runway while landing at LaGuardia airport. The Captain and First Officer were killed.

The NTSB has now released their preliminary report and in this blog post I take a look at what we know so far about this accident. I examine what the preliminary report details as well as the aftermath of this accident, including actions the FAA is taking in order to prevent an accident like this from happening again.

I take a look at what we know so far about the collision of an Air Canada CRJ900 aircraft with a firefighting vehicle when landing at LGA. I examine what the preliminary report details as well as the aftermath of this accident, including actions the FAA is taking in order to prevent an accident like this from happening again.

On 20 October 2025, an airACT Boeing 747 freighter veered off the runway at Hong Kong International Airport, striking a security vehicle, pushing it into the sea and killing both occupants. The 747 went through the airport preliminary fence into the sea. The 4 crew members were able to evacuate safely but the aircraft was damaged beyond repair.

The preliminary report has been released and in the latest blog post, I will take a look at what we know so far based on the preliminary report.
