In this blog post, I take a look at United Airlines' route network expansion plans and what the significance of this announcement is, both for United Airlines and for the aviation industry. United Airlines has announced the largest international network expansion in its history with ten new international cities and three new routes across Europe and Asia. Many of these routes will be flown by the new Airbus A321XLR aircraft which United debuted with the phrase 'Born to Explore'.

On 10 July 2026 Ryanair flight 1879 (operated by Malta Air), from Thessaloniki, Greece, to Memmingen, Germany, operated by a Boeing 737-8AS aircraft experienced an uncontained engine failure as it was climbing out from Thessaloniki. Debris destroyed a cabin window, causing a rapid decompression. The aircraft returned to Thessaloniki where it landed safely.

In this blog post I take a look at what we know so far about this event. I will examine what the preliminary report details and what it could mean for the investigation going forward.

Lufthansa is an instantly recognized airline, not just in Europe but around the world. With its expansive route network and diverse fleet, along with the strength of the entire Lufthansa Group, the German flag carrier is well positioned as a leading European airline. In 2026, the airline will celebrate its 100th anniversary.

In this blog post I take a look back at the airline's history and development. From its birth in 1926 to the introduction of jet aircraft into its fleet as well as the challenges it faced due to Covid-19, the airline has clearly impacted the entire aviation industry. The fact that the airline is still around 100 years later is amazing.

I also take a look at the dedicated freighter aircraft which Air Canada Cargo utilizes and the future aircraft which the airline plans to take delivery of in the future.
