The 2026 Farnborough International Airshow

The 2026 Farnborough International Airshow took place from 20-24 July 2026. The airshow takes place every two years and brings together the global aerospace and defense community. The airshow is one of the world's most iconic aviation events and includes aircraft displays, exhibitions, conferences and shows the latest innovations which shape the future of flight. The next Farnborough Airshow will take place from 17 - 21 July 2028.
In this blog post, I will examine some of the orders and announcements that were revealed at the 2026 airshow. Many exciting orders were placed for new aircraft and new commitments made for future orders. Please note that this blog post does not include every order or announcement made but includes some which I believe are significant.
Day 1 - Monday 20 July
On the first day of the Farnborough International Airshow, British Airways announced that it had selected the Pratt and Whitney GTF engines for up to 63 incoming A320neo aircraft. The 63 is broken down into 33 firm orders and 30 options and deliveries will commence in 2027. Pratt and Whitney will also provide maintenance for the engines through a 12 year agreement.
Also on day 1, Skymark Airlines revealed that it will lease 7 Boeing 737 MAX 10s from Aviation Capital Group. The aircraft will support the Japanese airline's fleet expansion and renewal with aircraft arriving at the airline in 2028.
Riyadh Air also firmed up its commitments for 28 Boeing 787s and 6 A350-1000s. 20 of the 28 commitments for the 787 saw the airline convert 787-9 orders to the larger 787-10.
Irish lessor, SMBC Aviation Capital ordered100 Boeing 737 MAXs. This is broken down into 60 Boeing 737 MAX 10s and 40 Boeing 737 MAX 8s.
Later on in the day, SMBC Aviation Capital ordered 100 A320neo family aircraft. This deal is broken down into 65 A321neos and 35 A320neos.
Philippine Airlines has ordered up to 20 Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner's. This consists of 15 firm orders and 5 options. This is the airline's first order for the Dreamliner.
Singapore based lessor, BOC Aviation ordered 300 CFM LEAP engines for its incoming A320neo and Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. The order consists of 200 LEAP-1A and 100 LEAP-1B engines.
Loganair ordered 5 all-electric conventional takeoff and landing CX300 aircraft from BETA Technologies, with options for 5 more. The aircraft are set to enter service in 2029. The airline hopes to become Europe's first commercial airline operating an electric aircraft fleet.
Day 2 - Tuesday 21 July
On the second day of the Farnborough Airshow, Emirates revealed that it will not take delivery of Boeing's oldest 777X aircraft due to the cost that would be required to get them up to spec. Some of the aircraft are 8 years old and Boeing has already scrapped one airframe instead of bringing it up to modern specifications.
Uganda Airlines ordered 4 Boeing 737 MAX 8s and 4 Boeing 787-9s.
Luxair converted 2 of its options for the Boeing 737 MAX 10 into firm orders and secured another 2 options for the type.
MSC Air Cargo ordered 5 Boeing 777-8 freighters.
After its order yesterday, Philippine Airlines signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Airbus for 9 more A350-1000s.
On the second day of the airshow, Embraer announced 30 new orders with four different customers. Binter Canarias ordered 5 E195-E2s, Luxair ordered 3 E190-E2s, Fuji Dream Airlines ordered 2 E175s while Abra ordered 20 E195-E2s. Embraer also announced that Azorra had signed a Memorandum of Understanding for up to 30 freighter aircraft.
Gulf Air signed a Letter of Intent with JetZero, the manufacturer of the Z4 blended wing body aircraft. The airline will receive preferential delivery positions in the early 2030s.
Irish lessor AerCap ordered 15 more Boeing 787-9s, bringing its total Dreamliner Portfolio to around 140.
Shohin Airlines disclosed an order for 4 A320neo family aircraft. The deal consists of 2 A320neos and 2 A321neos. This order is the first ever Airbus order by Shohin Airlines. The order first appeared in Airbus' order books as 'undisclosed' last month. Shohin Airlines is a private carrier based in Tajikistan.
Also on the second day of the airshow, Airbus confirmed that it is launching a new flight test campaign to evaluate the performance of high-span wings for next generation single-aisle aircraft. Full-scale wing extensions will be installed on an A321neo to evaluate how wing geometries perform in real flight conditions.
Day 3 - Wednesday 22 July
On day 3 of the Farnborough airshow, Etihad announced that it had signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Abra Group to establish a partnership to improve inter-connectivity between the two companies. Abra's member airlines include Avianca, GOL and Wamos Air.
Bombardier Defense and the Swedish Armed Forces signed a strategic support agreement which will see Bombardier support two of Sweden's Bombardier Global 6500 aircraft for multi-role missions.
BOC Aviation confirmed the purchase of up to 220 Pratt and Whitney Geared Turbofan (GTF) engines which will be used to power up to 110 A320neo family aircraft.
BermudAir confirmed an order for 10 A220-300s. This order was first recorded in the Airbus order book as an undisclosed deal in March 2026.
Saudi Arabian low-cost carrier, flynas, firmed up orders for 25 more Airbus aircraft. This consists of 5 A330-900s and 20 A321neos.
Vietnam Airlines announced that it will lease 19 Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft. The airline has already placed firm orders for 50 of the type.
Day 4 - Thursday 23 July
On day 4 of the Farnborough International Airshow, Aerolineas Argentinas announced that it will lease 6 Boeing 737 MAX 10s from Aviation Capital Group.
Flying Displays
Throughout the week, different aircraft were on display and some took to the skies above the airshow. Some of the aircraft include: the Airbus A350-1000, an Italian Air Force Eurofighter Typhoon, a USAF Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II, a Bombardier Global 8000, a Rolls Royce Vickers Supermarine Spitfire, a Vertical Aerospace VA-1X, a Chinook helicopter, a Beta Technologies CX300, a GE Aerospace Saab 340B and an Embraer C-390.
