Dubai Airshow 2025

The 2025 Dubai Airshow (DAS) took place at the Dubai World Central Airport (DWC) from the 17th - 21st November. The airshow featured different exhibitions and aircraft on display, including flying displays, and some interesting aircraft orders. In this blog post, I take a look at some of the key highlights of the airshow including some of the key aircraft orders that were placed during the week.

Day 1 - Monday 17th November

The first day of the DAS was a busy one. Emirates announced that it is adding Starlink Wifi to 232 aircraft on its Boeing 777 and Airbus A380 fleet. That was not the only Emirates announcement on Day 1, as the airline also ordered 65 Boeing 777-9 aircraft and the airline is pushing Boeing to study the feasibility of a stretched 777-10 aircraft.

Also on Day 1,

Ethiopian Airlines ordered 11 Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft.

flydubai announced that it has selected GE Aerospace GEnx-1B engines for its incoming widebody fleet of 30 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners.

Air Senegal and Boeing signed a letter of intent for up to 15 Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft. This is split between 9 firm orders and 6 purchase options.

On Day 2 of the airshow, Etihad Airways placed an order for 15 A330neos and will increase its commitments for the A350-1000 and A350F. The airline will lease 9 of the 15 A330neos from Avolon while the other 6 will be bought directly from Airbus. This order for the A330-900 marks a new aircraft type for the airline. It is clear that the 2025 Dubai Airshow was successful for both Airbus and Boeing, although Boeing would definitely have been pleased with the large Emirates order for the 777-9. It will definitely be interesting to see if the larger 777-10 will come into existence. Do you think the Boeing 777-10 will happen? Were there any orders or announcements that surprised you?
